The section I am choosing to investigate is the Story and Storytelling section of Presentation Zen chapter 4. The word that describes this section is engagement. I chose this word because telling stories during presentations can help bring people in and help them understand our thoughts and points clearly. This is important to remember throughout my career whenever I do presentations or try to explain concepts to a group of people. Telling stories that involve any conflict, contrast, and resolution intrigues the audience. Our brains tend to remember experiences or points that have a strong emotional component to them. By knowing this concept, I can try to structure my presentations and talk in a way that will help people be interested in what I am saying and remember the concepts. I’ll likely give lots of presentations to people on my team at work or even clients, so it is important to know how to structure presentations well.
