I chose to summarize the comic at the beginning of Don’t Make Me Think chapter 8 into the word “opinion.” I chose this word because the comic and this section talks about how all users have different feelings on what we like and don’t like about websites (and perhaps argue about it). Some people don’t like certain components like pull downs, but others enjoy how they look. It can be hard to ignore our biases when working on web development teams, as we design. This concept is important to remember for my career, as I may have a hand in designing interfaces. I need to keep in mind to try to ignore my personal preferences (and remember that others have their own preferences too) and just try to choose the components that work best for the types of functionality I am trying to implement.
